Which is the truth and which is the lie?
Now that Ella knows who Juliette is and what she was created for, things have only become more complicated. As she struggles to understand the past that haunts her and looks to a future more uncertain than ever, the lines between right and wrong—between Ella and Juliette—blur. And with old enemies looming, her destiny may not be her own to control.
The day of reckoning for the Reestablishment is coming. But she may not get to choose what side she fights on.
This book was probably the most anticipated one for this year. I have been waiting to know how this entire series was going to end, especially after the ending in the last novella. Having followed this series for such a long time, I was definitely emotionally invested at 10000%. I was hoping this book was going to be explosive with all the Warnette scenes I needed since the fourth book came out but never got with Restore Me and Defy Me, but… it was everything but that 😓.

I think that I’ve come to terms with the fact that the Shatter Me series is my favourite YA series 😂. I’m so invested in these character and the storyline, I’m kind of sad that it’s ending in the final book. But at the same time, I can’t wait to see how everything ends in Imagine Me and I hope that we get a happy ending 😩. I personally think that the novellas in between releases are a great way to keep the readers entertained while make them anticipate the release of the novel.

Will Juliette’s broken heart make her vulnerable to the strengthening darkness within her?
Juliette’s short tenure as the supreme commander of North America has been an utter disaster. When the children of the other world leaders show up on her doorstep, she wants nothing more than to turn to Warner for support and guidance. But he shatters her heart when he reveals that he’s been keeping secrets about her family and her identity from her—secrets that change everything.
Juliette is devastated, and the darkness that’s always dwelled within her threatens to consume her. An explosive encounter with unexpected visitors might be enough to push her over the edge.
I want to thank Tahereh Mafi for writing this book and giving me the feeling of wanting to read again after this awful long reading slump I’ve been having. School has been a pain in the ass and I’ve been so busy with my semester, I never thought I would write another review on this blog again. I was so out of the book community at one point that I completely forgot that Defy Me was coming out in April, making it a great surprise, tbh. I went to pick it up and gave reading another try and I actually read it in about 2-3 days. This book was such a quick read that I was left wanting more from Mafi. I’m definitely excited to see how it’s all going to conclude in the next novel.
Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?
I read the Shatter Me series back in 2015. They were on sale in the iBook store and I was looking for something to read. I knew they were quite popular but I haven’t heard much on the story. I pretty much dove into the series blind and it ended up being the best reads of the year. I’m pretty sure I flew through them. So it was no surprised when I learned that there was going to be a sequel to the series, it got me excited to read again, something that I haven’t felt in a while. I quickly went through the trilogy to remind myself of the pig lines of the plot and the world so that I wouldn’t be too lost when Restore Me would come out. Re-reading some parts of the book really reminded me why I loved the series and how beautiful Tahereh Mafi’s writing is.
